Olde-fashioned yuletide at mill

The Seeing Eye

HOLIDAY EVENTS SET AT MILL CREEK: Several events are being planned for the Mill Creek Metroparks to welcome the holiday season. The public can visit Lanterman’s Mill for Olde Fashioned Christmas at Lanterman’s Mill from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.

Guests will be able to see Lanterman’s Mill dressed in holiday finery for this traditional, family-friendly, free event. There will be artisans demonstrating old- fashioned crafts, and festive entertainment. To share the holiday spirit with others, bring a new hat, scarf, or pair of mittens to decorate a “Giving Tree.” Donated items will warm up children in need this winter.

On Dec. 1, head over to the MetroParks Farm for Santa’s Winter Barn from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Santa will make an appearance with some of his animal friends. There will be a sleigh for a holiday picture and a holiday craft. The free event is held in the unheated barn, so dress for the weather. There is a $1 cash-only fee for the children’s holiday craft. For more information about the holiday weekend events in the MetroParks, visit millcreek metroparks.org.

CENTER SETS BAZAAR: The Jewish Community Center of Youngstown’s third annual Holiday Bazaar will be 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 1 at 505 Gypsy Lane. Dozens of vendors will offer crafts, jewelry, cosmetics, soaps and more. A concession stand will be available and guests will also have the opportunity to participate in a basket raffle and 50/50. Gift wrapping will be available for a donation. For information, visit jccy oungstown.org.

CELEBRATION EVENT: Celebrate the holiday season by joining the Sisters of the Humility of Mary for their annual Nativity Display, an indoor Advent tradition featuring hundreds of nativity sets from around the world.
