Seeing Eye: Cemetery tours in Youngstown set

HISTORICAL WALK: The Mahoning Valley Historical Society will hold an Oak Hill Cemetery walking tour noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 26. Tours will begin every 20 minutes, beginning and finishing at the cemetery, 344 Oak Hill Ave., Youngstown.

SOCIETY TO MEET: Poland Historical Society will meet 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Little Red Schoolhouse, 4514 Center Road.

At 7:30 p.m., guest speaker Rosalyn Torella will give a presentation from her book “Lowellville, Ohio –Murders, Mayhem and More.” She will have copies of her book available for sale at the meeting.

WALK TO END ALZ-HEIMER’S: A Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be held 9:30 a.m. Oct. 26 at Youngstown State University’s Watson and Tressel Training Site (WATTS). Check-in is 8:30 a.m., followed by the walk at 9:30 a.m. Register at alz.org/walk.

Families and people of all ages are welcome to take part to raise awareness and money for Alzheimer’s support, research and care. The event is coordinated by the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Eastern Ohio Chapter.

GROUP TO MEET: Time Bank Mahoning Valley Watershed will meet 6 p.m. Tuesday at the El Tapatio Mexican Restaurant and Cantina, 3632 Belmont Ave, Youngstown, Discussion will be on adapting to climate tragedy. Our Time Bank Mahoning Watershed mission links resources in networks, communities, projects and organizations.

COMMITTEE TO MEET: The Building and Sites Committee of the Board of Trustees, Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County will meet 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in the meeting room of the Main Library, 305 Wick Ave.

The purpose is to award bids for the Newport Garage Expansion and the Poland Driveway Retaining Wall, and to conduct interviews with the four firms for the construction manager at risk for the Main Library Renovation project and vote on their selection.

The interviews will start at 9:30 a.m. The review of the candidates will begin at 3:30 p.m.
