AUSTINTOWN — A Chick-fil-A restaurant may be coming to Austintown, but no formal proposals have been submitted to township zoning, and there are no plans at this point, according to township Trustee Jim Davis.

Davis said about two weeks ago representatives of Chick-fil-A met with zoning inspector Darrin Crivelli to discuss regulations and building requirements. He said architects have looked at a property, but a deal is “far from done.”

“It’s speculative at this point,” said Davis. “Obviously they wanted to meet to discuss different parameters and requirements, and obviously the township would welcome them. We understand the community’s desire to have them here.”

Davis said Chick-fil-A has a longstanding tradition of doing good business, and bringing one to Austintown is the kind of project the township likes.

21-WFMJ-TV reported Ray Mashorda, owner of the former Mashorda’s County Gardens property, said he spoke with Chick-fil-A representatives about his property a few months ago, but no purchase has been closed.

A food trailer from Chick-fil-A’s Howland restaurant set up shop in October and November in the parking lot of the Sleepy Hollow Sleep Shop, which is west and across the street from the Mashorda property, according to WFMJ.

A call to the Chick-fil-A corporate office was not immediately returned.
