Senior Sydney Schuler (pictured) took second place in the 500 free with a time of 5:40.92. Schuler also broke the AAC meet record in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:05.05, breaking the old record of 2:05.20..

Neighbors | Submitted.The AAC Swim Championships were held at Warren G. Harding High School Natatorium on Jan. 12. The Canfield girls relay team of Jordan Helmick ,Miranda Peckman, Sydney Schuler  and Elle Dawson placed second in the medley relay with a time of 202.66.

The Canfield High School swim team earned second place overall in a field of eight teams.

Sydney Schuler broke the AAC meet record in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:05.05, breaking the old record of 2:05.20.

Making the podium for earning top three places for the Cardinal boys were Jason Paris, who placed first in the 50 freestyle and third in the 100 freestyle; Rob DiDomenico, who placed second in the 200 freestyle and second in the 500 freestyle; Bobby Kutsch, who placed third in the 200 freestyle, and Luke Dietz, who placed third in the 200 individual medley.

The Cardinal boys made the podium in all of their relay events, including the second place team of Connor Fritz, Ty Schaab, Luke Dietz and James Dietz in the 200 medley relay; the second place team of Kutsch, James Dietz, Matthew Peckman and Paris in the 200 freestyle relay and the second place team of Kutsch, DiDomenico, Peckman and Paris in the 400 freestyle relay.

Top point scorers for the Cardinal girls were Sydney Schuler, who placed first in the 200 freestyle and second in the 500 freestyle; Elle Dawson, who placed fifth in the 100 breaststroke and seventh in the 100 freestyle; Jordan Helmick, who placed sixth in the 100 backstroke and seventh in the 100 butterfly, and Miranda Peckman, who placed sixth in the 50 freestyle and ninth in the 100 freestyle. This same foursome of Schuler, Dawson, Helmick and Peckman also made the podium in the 200 medley relay, placing second, and the 200 freestyle relay, placing third.
