The Canfield High School Soccer Boosters honored the 10 senior members of the Canfield High School boys soccer team during Senior Night on Oct. 4.
Family, friends, teammates and classmates recognized the senior players, including Stevie Duke, Phil Stanic, PJ Colonna, Matt Beck, Mitchell Mangie, Hunter Hale, Jad Jadallah, Jonas Epp, Chris Makara and Nathan Powell.
The senior team members were introduced at Bob Dove Field before the varsity game versus Warren Harding.
The players were escorted by their families as they walked through a double line of their cheering teammates after they were greeted by Head Coach Christian Silvestri, boys assistant coach Joe Fusillo and CHS Athletic Director Greg Cooper.
Left defense Matt Beck was escorted by his parents Larry and Tina Beck, with his sisters Andrea, Laura, Nicole, Jessica and nieces Rose, Lucy, Amelia and nephew Liam carrying his banner; defender and midfielder PJ Colonna was escorted by his parents Pat and Phemie Colonna, with his brother Nicholas and sister Adele carrying his banner; outside defense Stevie Duke was escorted by his parents Steve and Michelle Duke, with his sister Madison carrying his banner; left midfielder Jonas Epp was escorted by his parents Gerhard and Kathy Epp, with his brothers William and Marcus and his sister Marina carrying his banner; attacking midfielder Hunter Hale was escorted by his mom Michelle English and step dad Terry English and his dad Brian Hale and step mom Jenna Hale, while his banner was carried by Michelle English and Jenna Hale; goalkeeper Jad Jadallah was escorted by his parents Rasha and Yazan Jadallah, with his sister Bayann and brother Zain carrying his banner; striker/forward Chris Makara was escorted by his parents Jason and Trisha Makara, with his banner being carried by Trish Makara; midfielder Mitchell Mangie was escorted by his parents Ron and Lisa Mangie, with his sisters Bella and Angelina and brother Ronnie carrying his banner; goalkeeper Nathan Powell was escorted by his mother Gina Powell, with his banner carried by his brothers Jacob and Mathew and center defender Phil Stanic was escorted by his parents Dan and Mariana Stanic, who also carried their son’s banner.
Cooper, Assistant Principal and Associate Athletic Director Michael Cochran and Athletic Department Secretary Jackie Bower donated the flowers for the players’ parents. Canfield High School choir member Claire Audia sang the National Anthem. Mike Fay served as Senior Night announcer.
As part of the celebration, before the game began, the 10 senior members led their team in running through a hoop banner which recognized the seniors.
The Canfield High School Soccer Boosters had a dinner in the high school’s cafeteria after the varsity game for the families and teammates of the senior team members. The junior class team members parents organized the dinner to honor the senior players, as is the Canfield High School soccer tradition.
