Mahoning Valley Dahlia Society will meet at 2 p.m. in the social hall at Calvary Baptist Church, 1463 Shields Road, Boardman. A program on native plants of the local area will be presented along with a question-and-answer period and discussion of the dahlia season so far. Anyone is welcome to attend.


Gleaners Garden Club will host its June Flower Show at 10 a.m. at the D.D. & Velma Davis Education & Visitor Center in Fellows Riverside Gardens. Entries will be taken from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Lunch with a business meeting to follow judging. The show also will continue June 17.

Sunflower Garden Club will meet at 1 p.m. to discuss herbs. Virginia Goldston will be the presenter, and the hostess will be Lawanda Randall.


Friends of the Fellows Riverside Gardens will host a “Great Growers of the Great Lakes State” trip to Michigan that will take place July 31 through Aug. 2. Participants will visit three young plant producers’ growing sites and Michigan State University’s Horticulture Gardens and Trial Garden. They also will visit the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, the city of Holland and the Meyer May House, built by Frank Lloyd Wright. Cost is $450 for Friends members with one roommate and $495 for nonmembers with one roommate. Additional rooms and price options are available.
