The Canfield High School Swim and Dive Team, in cooperation with the Canfield Swim and Tennis Club Swim Team, will host its first ‘Race to the Wall’ Golf Scramble at Diamondback Golf Course on Sept. 10. The scramble will have a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
The event is being offered to raise money to support both the Canfield High School Swim and Dive Team and the Canfield Swim and Tennis Club Swim Team.
“The high school Swim and Dive Boosters raises money to help the school offset the cost of the YSU pool fees, coaches and assistants, transportation and meals for some of the bigger meets. As treasurer of the boosters, I saw the need to add another fundraising event to help offset the rising pool cost and other expenses we pay every year,” said Mark Brucoli, ‘Race to the Wall’ Golf Scramble organizer and CHS Swim and Dive Boosters treasurer.
There will be several games at the event, and the deadline to sponsor or make golfer reservations is Sept. 6.
“There will be cash prizes for the top three places. There will also be a hole-in-one prize, skins, 50/50, and other games. We need all sponsors and golfer reservations no later than 7 p.m. Sept. 6, so we can finalize all the plans,” Brucoli said.
To make reservations or become a sponsor, contact Brucoli at email@example.com.
“We are accepting hole sponsors for $50 per hole and we can always use more,” Brucoli said.
The Canfield High School Swim and Dive Boosters plan on making the golf scramble an annual event.
“This is my last year with a swimmer, but there are several parents with younger kids who want to continue this event next year,” Brucoli said.
Members of the swim teams will be on-site working various prize holes and helping in setup and cleanup.
