Donor drive to help woman with cancer

Missy Ginnetti needs a stem cell transplant to save her life.

Supporters are asking the public to attend a marrow donor registry drive from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at St. Nicholas Church’s Great Hall, 762 Fifth St.

Team Missy will offer family fun activities for all ages at the drive. There also will be a bake sale, basket auction and a 50-50 raffle.

In 2010, Ginnetti was diagnosed with stage 3 Hodgkins lymphoma. She endured intense chemotherapy, clinical trials and long hospital stays. Her cancer went into remission after a stem cell transplant with her own cells.

However, in January the cancer returned, and she needs a donor match for the transplant.

Anyone can attend and donate money, but those who are 18 to 44 also have a chance to join the donor registry. Or donate at www.bethematchfoundati
