LIMELIGHT Awards, achievements
WARREN -- The Medical Staff of Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital has recently elected new officers to serve two-year terms representing more than 360 local physicians on staff. New officers are: Dr. James Sudimack, president; Dr. Kowriah Amirthalingam, vice president; Dr. Kapil Kawtra, secretary/treasurer; and Dr. Kenneth Jones, member-at-large.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Noelia Montanez and Shari Smith, both of The Callos Companies, have earned Certified Temporary Staffing Specialist designations from the National Association of Personnel Services. Montanez, a risk coordinator for Callos, lives in Lowellville and attended Youngstown State University. Smith, a secretary, lives in Leetonia and graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University where she studied journalism and sociology-anthropology
HOWLAND -- Dr. Mike Heilman, director of pain management and staff psychologist at Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital has been appointed a surveyor for the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. A Howland resident, Heilman was asked to apply for the position after Hillside completed an exceptional CARF survey, and he completed a five-day training program and internship.
Rebecca Lebron, manager of the occupational therapy department at Hillside, has been appointed by Gov. Bob Taft to the Ohio Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Athletic Trainers Board. An occupational therapist for 17 years, Lebron joined Hillside three years ago. She lives in Niles.
POLAND -- Mark S. Gervelis, an attorney in private practice in Poland, has an article published in Ohio Trial magazine. The article, "A Physician's Duty to Testify," examines a physician's legal and ethical duty to testify on behalf of a patient involved in personal injury litigation. Gervelis is a graduate of Youngstown State University and the Cleveland Marshall College of Law.
