Hoyt displays 52nd regional show

The 52nd Hoyt Regional Art Exhibition opens Wednesday at Arts & Education at the Hoyt.

This year’s juror was Henry Adams, a professor of art history at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. The show was open to artists ages 18 and older who live within a 250-mile radius of New Castle.

Adams selected more than 75 pieces for this year’s show. He awarded Greg Zbach first place for his photo “Loominous,” D.P. Warner second place for the oil painting “Blue Snow” and Gwe Waight third place for the found object work “Oh My Country.”

Six artists also were selected for merit awards: Michele Perelman, Harold Maiella, Victoria Yatsko Watson, Peter Schlicht, Georgene Bemis and Donald Dugal.

Nearly $1,300 in cash prizes was awarded.

The work will be on display through July 17 at Hoyt, 124 124 E. Leasure Ave., New Castle, Pa. An awards reception is planned from noon to 2 p.m. June 7.

Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
