Sunday dance marks Penn-Ohio Polka Pals 50th birthday

GIRARD — The Penn-Ohio Polka Pals will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a dance Sunday at Avon Oaks Ballroom.

Nine bands will perform between 2 and 7 p.m.: Tony Zupanchick & Friends, Julie Tadaj, Jack Tady, Del Sinchak, The Zolkas, Ron Pivovar, Anthony Culkar, Ray Kovac and a Penn-Ohio Polka Pals Jam.

To mark the anniversary, the Pals are releasing a 50th anniversary music collection on two CDs or a USB drive that includes 105 minutes of music and 38 songs from 21 polka bands. It will be for sale at the event for $20 each or $30 for both versions.

The group also has put together a 50th anniversary celebration book filled with history and memorabilia that was paid for with the support of patrons and businesses that support the organization and its mission.

Admission to the dance at Avon Oaks, 1401 N. State St., Girard, is $10, and a copy of the book is included with paid admission. For more information, call 330-824-2154 or 330-402-4594.
