TNT seeks cast for upcoming thriller

Auditions for the mystery thriller “Wait Until Dark” will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and Wednesday at Trumbull New Theatre, 5883 Youngstown Warren Road, Niles.

It will be directed by Ron Sinesio. Cast requirements are five men ages 20 to 60, a woman ages 20 to 50 and a teenaged girl. Those auditioning will be asked to read from the script. A monologue is not necessary.

A mask must be worn into the theater and audition, and people will be called in to audition in small groups.

The show is scheduled to open Nov. 6 and run for three weekends. For more information, email the director at ronesio2004@yahoo.com.

Opera Western Reserve gets $6K grant

The Ohio Arts Council awarded Opera Western Reserve a $6,195 sustainability grant.

OWR’s 2020-21 productions are made possible in part by state tax dollars allocated by the Ohio Legislature to the OAC, which funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally and economically. More than 275 arts groups applied for the grant support.

The money will help fund the online series “OWR Presents” and the efforts of its educational outreach team to offer additional content for local students and their families.

PBT reunites for park performance

With its performance that will be available starting Sunday, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre became the first ballet company in the American Guild of Musical Artists to perform together since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The dancers reunited in Hartwood Acres for a a new adaptation of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” that was conceived and choreographed remotely by PBT company dancers Tommie Lynn Kesten, Jessica McCann, Kurtis Sprowls and Cooper Verona under the direction of Artistic Director Susan Jaffe. Dancers learned choreography via Zoom prior to filming.

The performance will be posted on the Allegheny County Parks Facebook page and YouTube channel after its broadcast at 7 p.m. Sunday on Pittsburgh’s CW network.
