Dana Piano Trio to open McDonough Muse Series

The Dana Piano Trio will open the McDonough Museum of Art’s 2020 Muse Series.

The pre-recorded program, which will be show on both the Youngstown State University and McDonough YouTube channels starting at 2 p.m. Sunday, will consist largely of contemporary works but also will feature older compositions by Clara Schumann and Anton Webern.

The Dana Piano Trio’s members — Wendy Case, violin; Kivie Cahn-Lipman, cello; and Cicilia Yudha, piano — each have active performing careers as soloists and chamber musicians. They hold degrees from many of the world’s most prestigious conservatories, including the Juilliard School, Cleveland Institute of Music and Oberlin Conservatory.

Case, a new Dana faculty member, has performed globally as a chamber musician and recitalist. She is the founding violinist of the Brahms’ Ghost Piano Trio and has collaborated with such prestigious musicians as David Finckel, Amir Eldan, Kirsten Docter and Soovin Kim, and performed in such ensembles as the Blossom Festival Orchestra and the Atlanta Symphony.

She studied at the University of Michigan, the Cleveland Institute of Music, and the Stony Brook University.

Founded in 2017, the trio performs and teaches around the United States and made its Carnegie Hall debut in March 2019 as part of the 150th anniversary of the Dana School of Music.

The Muse Series features innovative expressions of contemporary culture, serving to enrich northeast Ohio with recitals of groundbreaking new music and dynamic collaborations. A second concert is planned at 7 p.m. Oct. 14.
