WARREN — Trumbull Art Gallery will display some of its treasures when it reopens today for the first time in three months, and those treasures will help keep its doors open for years to come.

Treasures for TAG includes art and other items that have been donated to the gallery as well as books, art supplies, fine china and other household items.

“It takes money to keep this place open,” said director Pat Galgozy. “We also have some outreach programs we want to do and need money for that.”

Among the work available includes three paintings by well-known Youngstown artist Al Bright that were donated by Rolf and Marianne Nissen. Bright, who died in 2019, was a longtime art professor at Youngstown State University. Over the years, he did painting performances at TAG, displayed his work there and was the inspiration for the TAG Summerfest children’s program in 2010.

“He was a good friend to TAG,” Galgozy said.

Also on display will be the work of Barbara Yoxall, who is TAG’s Artist of the Month.

TAG’s next regular exhibition will be a group show opening July 18 featuring Random Acts of Artists, a nonprofit organization made up of some of the most creative individuals located in western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio.

When TAG reopens today, volunteers will be wearing masks, and those visiting the gallery will be required to wear face coverings (available for purchase for those who don’t have one). Social distancing will be practiced, common areas will be disinfected regularly, and hand sanitizer will be available.

A new sales counter has been installed in the gift shop area along with plexiglass protective barriers. No cash transactions will be accepted; sales will be by credit, debit or check only.

The gallery will be open only from noon to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday, but Galgozy said she expects TAG to resume regular hours from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday in July.
