McGuffey Society presents library founding program

LIBERTY — Local historian and genealogist Tim Seman will be the next speaker in the William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society’s lecture series.

Seman will discuss the founding and development of the Youngstown and Mahoning County Library System. The library system was founded in 1880 and has fifteen county-wide locations. The Genealogy and Local History Center, located in the information services department at Main Library, maintains an extensive collection of genealogical and historical material.

The program starts at 10 a.m. Sept. 21 in the Kravitz Deli Meeting Room, 3135 Belmont Ave., Liberty. Admission is $5 for McGuffey members and $6 for non-members. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 330-726-8277.
