Friend's heart attack teaches lessons for NFL, life

By Nick Eason (Contact)

Practice went well Wednesday. We got alot of work done today as a team. I'm a little sore, but its not too bad at all.

It starting raining really hard after practice was over. Thanks alot, God! You were 2 hours too late!

Me, Travis (90), Diesal (99) and Vel (77) sat in the cold tub which was about 44 degrees today during the severe rain shower. Hey you gotta do what you gotta do! I'm here to get better, and I will be whatever it takes to do so.

Today, during O-line vs D-line drills, i rushed 5 times and won 4 times. i still have to correct some of my run fits. Not bad, but I want to be perfect. That's the thing I love about life. i will never reach perfection. But i will work hard to obtain it!

Thursday morning, I'm going to get a massage. It's about that time. We have been banging heads for three straight days in the hot sun. Now it's time to get a little rub down.

Man, I am truly blessed to be in the NFL. Even though training camp is tough and my body has its aches and pains, I'm truly blessed. There are thousands of people who would love to be where I'm at today. That's why i never take this opportunity for granted, nor my life.

My college roommate, Brandon Rouse, died of a heart attack at the age of 19. Sometimes it seems like yesterday. When i reflect on that moment of my life, I realize that life is too short, and that's why you have live everyday like it's your last.

I had a snack Wednesday night. Two sandwiches with yummy turkey, lettuce, tomatoe, mayo, pepperjack cheese, salami. And I nice huge slice of pizza. Then I endulged on four oatmeal raisin cookies. My body really needed that.

I told myself that I wasn't going to snack tonight, but i heard the food calling my name from the St Vincent's cafeteria: "Nick please come eat us!"

I'm in bed now, just got done watching film and studying my play book.

I'm reading book called "God is in the tough stuff" by Bruce and Stan. I recommend it!
