For bringing Barney Frank to The Valley Betras certainly deserves to be held in high esteem by a slect few who see the worthiness of this act . For the rest of us Betras is viewed as an out of touch far left liberal .

David should have made the list for making party endorsements mean something. Without that endorsement - Carol never would have beaten Ludt. Now, everyone who wants to run for office is after the endorsement.

My even not being a big Betras fan or supporter, I'll refuse to hear him singled out as some one man pariah here. Granted he's got a shady aura and has been associated with some shady things,.. look at all the rest of them.

So and however, the cities problems with such an abundance of shady characters. What you're trying to contend here in an attempt to allege and or to attribute Dave Betras, to be the origin of sole orchestration is absurd.

Where I'd never, thought I'd be standing in defense of Dave Betras. However, just because I don't oft agree with his actions or public projection. I'm still not one to see or hear of one individual being falsely projected or perceived as a one man menace to the area.

Granted, I disagree and I don't know Dave Betras and didn't get to meet Sonny Bono either. Which you may not be implying anything beyond what I perceive as a misguided joke. But I just find the inference of suffering a grim fate uncalled for.

I guess what I'm saying is that just like I want the best for everyone it doesn't exclude Mr. Betras. Where I don't oft agree with many of the local establishment for which he's a singular figure of.

Hence and however, just like I want everyone to conduct them / ourselves in a just manner. I'm not one to wish nor sanction ill will. For which that sincerity of wanting peace, tranquility and well being for all does in fact include that of Mr. Betras, as well.

Here Bertram as the notoriously ultimate nepotist Vindy advocate for Betras. Is for some reason and suddenly flipping his script and jumping off the Betras bandwagon?,.. Unreal.

Where I don't know the angle intent nor possible origin of opposition { real or feigned } for what brings this oddity on. However, it's not the norm and to pick something like a text message to do it is just surreal,.. to say the least.

I wonder how Mr. Betras will feel when Mr. Ryan loses his power. It could very well happen.

I think the operative term here is Ryan WILL lose his positional committee power, Considerably more than any questioning of if it will happen.

It'll show what Tim is really made of and having the elected position to make a difference is all he needs,.. lets see if he navigates like that.

Bert,I for the most part take exceptions to articles you write. But,I've said in the past that the Vindy is afraid of the loud mouth democrats downtown that they see everyday. Dave is out of control; losing it might be a better word. Certainly a major disappointment for trying to crucify Tom Humphries, someone who tried to work closely with Betras to improve econ development for the area.

I am a young person who moved back to Youngstown in recent years. I love the fact that we have a locally owned newspaper and I love the fact that we are still an independent media market. David Betras may be an imperfect man, but neither this post nor its comments are worthy of publication. There is such a thing as legitimate news coverage, and there is such a thing as throwing garbage at a wall to see what sticks. This entire article is the latter, and while I am often a fan of Bertram D'Souza, today he should be ashamed.

When and if the Republicans come out of their hiding places and put some viable candidates on the ballot, there might be a return to the two-party system.

Betras's popping off in the paper with that disgraceful rant, should have infuriated all citizens of this valley. And it certainly did not! He should have been told off; did the Republican Chairman send a reply/challenge to him? No, just silence. WHO is Betras to set rules where any party can or can not campaign for votes? And no one caught that ukase/edict of his?
