Becoming a mom is like any new project – you try to plan to the best of your abilities, then life gets in the way. It starts with the pregnancy part – you get all the books you can to prepare yourself - just to find that, at the last moment, important little details are omitted. There’s no predicting what may come your way with motherhood. The projects are immense in quantity and importance. As a mom, you are always re-creating yourself to be a cook, doctor, artist, comedian, entertainer, repair person, gardener, masseuse, personal shopper - the list could go on and on of the projects you are doing, making or becoming. Wonderful things and experiences are created out of nothing. Everything is either a project or becomes a project (in the sarcastic sense, too). We try to have it all, be all and be true to ourselves. It is exhausting, rewarding and nothing can prepare you for the intensity and wonder of it all. Welcome to Project Mom.
Join in this discussion forum open to all women – after all, women are often nurturing someone or something from taking care of our elder parents, giving therapy-like advice to friends or mothering our beloved pets. Come join in the fun and the exchanging of ideas, advice (and gossip)! Motherhood is just one facet of being a woman and don’t we have tons to discuss right now?!

Youngstown is the place to be for fun fall festivities. The trees are aflame with colors, farms beckon with the promis of apples and pumpkins, local parks have a slew of activities and football is the sport du jour. It is the season where great childhood memories are created and our town has many activities to help create them.

What an exciting upcoming weekend for all in the Youngstown area. There will be so many fun filled activities for children to enjoy at the Grey to Green Festival this Saturday. This festival strives to increase awareness of environmental issues in general. Issues which truly will impact our children's future. The grey to green concept is also part of the Youngstown 2010 Plan, and the Wick Park Revitalization effort that is currently underway. It is organized by and full of volunteers from a very active and progressive group of individuals working hard to brand Youngstown in an optimistic way.

I’ve spent the summer months gardening, cleaning, fixing and running around after a toddler. By the evening time to blog, one just becomes too exhausted to think straight. Now that the summer is drawing to a close, I'm making time to write again.

Who can blog when one is having their worst allergy season since growing up here? Thankfully, I have a sister who has battled our local pollen count for ages and is a walking pharmaceutical book on what works and what doesn't.
