Lucian Bute KO'd Edison Miranda in the third round on the first fight of HBO's broadcast. Miranda was expected to be one of boxing's biggest names until he was knocked out by Kelly Pavlik in Memphis in May of 2007.
Pavlik, of course, went on to knock out Jermain Taylor later that year to win the middleweight belts.
Because of Bute's early knockout, the Pavlik fight will probably begin in about 10-15 minutes.
I'd say they have about 7,000 fans inside Boardwalk Hall, which is pretty good considering Sergio Martinez didn't bring any fans, the economy stinks and it's April. I'll have an official number later on. In my opinion, this crowd should be considered a success. It makes you wonder what would happen if they didn't have to rely so heavily on Youngstown fans to fill the place for Pavlik's fights. All four of his bouts here have been ridiculously one-sided from a fan standpoint.
