I mentioned in my previous post that Harry Arroyo is still bothered that he never got a shot at Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini. It also bothers him that Mancini has such a huge following, while Arroyo (who was a terrific fighter) is more appreciated than loved around Youngstown.
They used to spar in training and Arroyo believes wholeheartedly he would have won the fight.
"I spanked him every day," Arroyo said a few minutes ago. "My trainer used to tell me to take it easy on him."
When asked if he'd fight him right now, he smiled, looked over at Mancini (who was doing a TV spot) and said, "I'd knock over that camera."
Kelly Pavlik's opponent tonight, Marco Antonio Rubio, has a 43-4-1 record with 37 KOs and he's fought some decent guys, but there's no question about the lowlight of his career. It came against Kofi Jantuah in Las Vegas in September of 2004. He got knocked out in about 30 seconds of the first round. I'll post the link below, but you might have to copy and paste it to see it.
