Another good fight

Another terrific undercard bout. Glouster, Ohio, native Brian Camerchis and Gary, Ind., native Angel Hernandez were just hammering each other in a six-round welterweight bout. They both got dropped in the fourth round.

There was so much blood that Ray Mancini moved his chair back about five feet from ringside so he wouldn't get blood on his suit. In his defense, it looks like a very expensive suit.

"I can't get it bloody," Mancini said, laughing.

Camechis (18-2) won by unanimous decision. Hernandez drops to 10-3.

"That was a good fight," Mancini said.

I'm not sure there are any future champs on tonight's undercard, but they've all been game. Defense has taken a back seat.

I promised myself I wouldn't make fun of the ring girls tonight since they were local, but I will say this: I have no idea why women get tattoos. It's like putting mayonnaise on steak.

The Chevy Centre is about 3/4ths full right now and they've seen some good fights.

The three undercard judges are all from the Valley: Tom Miller (Mineral Ridge), John Kitka (Austintown) and Phil Rogers (Youngstown). Their job has been pretty easy so far, with four knockouts and two obvious decisions.
