"And an new day will dawn for those who stand strong..." Led Zeppelin.
Well, after over a year and a half, Campaign 2008 is now history, and what history it was. Some are celebrating, others are licking their wounds. Either way, we have proven as we have every four years, our Constitution is the most powerful piece of paper the world has ever seen.
If you voted, it doesn't matter who you voted for. What matters is that you exercised your right to vote and realized your responsibility. If you didn't vote, well, you shirked your duty as an American and no one really wants to hear you complain about your government.
No doubt Senator McCain has served our country honorably over the years. For that we owe him in a way that can never truly be repaid. But, everything happens for a reason. Maybe yesterday proved he will be more effective by remaining in the Senate.
President-elect Obama will be taking the helm of this nation at one of the worst times in recent history. As we have with other presidents, we must come together and truly be "One nation under God". Maybe his ideas are pie in the sky, but it took a dream for the Wright brothers to develop the plane. It took a dream to explore space and land on the moon. It took a dream to realize all men are created equal. It will always take a dream for us to reach our potential. Only then will we be able to regain our stature in the world.
