WARREN – With 31 percent of Trumbull County precincts reporting, two hotly contested races for countywide offices are close.
In the race for county sheriff, incumbent Thomas Altiere has 10,032 or 56.6 percent of the vote, compared with challenger Joseph Consiglio, Weathersfield Township’s police chief, who has 7,688 votes, or nearly 43.4 percent of the vote counted so far.
In the county engineer’s race, David DeChristofaro has 8,601 votes, or 50.3 percent, compared with Randy Smith, deputy county engineer, with 8,512 or 49.7 percent.
A total 85 of 273 precincts have reported.
