Results becoming clear in tight Trumbull races

WARREN – With 68 percent of Trumbull County precincts reporting, two hotly contested races are becoming clear.
In the race for county sheriff, incumbent Thomas Altiere has 21,449 or 57 percent of the vote, compared with challenger Joseph Consiglio, Weathersfield Township’s police chief, who has 16,021 votes, or 42 percent of the votes counted so far.
In the county engineer’s race, David DeChristofaro is pulling ahead with 19,581 votes, or 53 percent, compared with Randy Smith, deputy county engineer, with 16,715 votes or 46  percent.
 A total 187 of 273 precincts have reported.
