Rose' and Red You Can Enjoy In Summer Heat

When the heat of summer hits its peak wine lovers usually find refuge in white wine. The lighter flavors and chilled temperature make whites more appealing as the temperature rises. There are some pink and red wines that you might find enjoyable even when summer's heat gets turned up. The Rose' should be source lightly chilled and the Pinot Noir at cellar temperature (55 degrees or so). Here's a look at four summer wines I think you'll enjoy: 2016 Isabel Rose' $16 Blend of 75% Cabernet, 23.5% Barbera and 1.5% Muscat from California. Fresh, aromatic and enticing aromas of strawberry, cranberry and ripe pear. Light in body on the palate and bright acidity on the finish. 2016 Mulderbosch Cabernet Sauvignon Rose' $15 A little more full bodied than the Isabel, but not as fresh or lively as the Isabel. If you like depth and roundness if your wines, than this is the Rose' choice for you. Grapes grown in South Africa's coastal region. 2015 Trinity Hill Hawkes Bay Pinot Noir $15 A pinot from the east coast of New Zealand's north island offers vibrancy and depth of character no seen often at this price point. Aromas of fresh raspberry and plum and hint of spice. Flavors of blackberry and licorice with soft tannins. Tremendous value. 2015 Meiomi Pinot Noir $17 100% Pinot Noir blended from three different regions: 49% Monterey County, Santa Barbara County 27%, and Sonoma County 24%. Each region provides a unique characteristic to the wine. Santa Barbara offers layered, spice filled aromas, Sonoma lends bright berry flavors, and Monterey contributes rich texture. Give these pink and red options a try and I think you'll find these wines work, no matter how much summer turns up the heat.
