OK, I KNOW I'm an old man-not Harry Meshel old-but well past the half-way mark,but-I JUST dont get some of the dreck on YouTube.
Maybe you have the same frustration-you're looking for a song by a certain artiste but instead video after video comes up of someone doing, excuse me-"COVERING" that song from their bedrooom.
Now-I'm not talking about someone like Townes Van Zandt doing HIS version of The Stones' Dead Flowers,
I'm talking about some guy in his Coitsville bedroom doing a song and somehow getting a rush having it on the internet.
In the past talented musicians 'paid their dues' - now you just need pay your internet connection.

Right on, Louie. But to make life better, type in "Vedder Springsteen Better Man" next time on YouTube.
IS "Vedder Springsteen Better Man" 'AIR-ABLE'?
I don't like everything I hear on youtube, but i like the free for all everyman concept of youtube. Music is supposed to be for everyone. But hey, if you want to hear a pro artist do their thing, pay for a copy of their album. If you search for something on youtube and what you wanted doesn't come up, don't look at what did come up, just move on to the next option. It's kinda like changing the channel when something you don't appreciate comes on the radio.
And paying your dues? That's a pretty debatable concept. I know a lot of people who would say that the Stones hadn't exactly paid their dues when they were in their early 20s and making a nice living ripping off the blues and cashing in on their white skin and English accents. It's not like they lived in poverty their whole lives, only to receive some meager compensation as old men when some rich white kid decided to initiate a blues revival. Don;t get me wrong. I like the Stones, but paying dues is a pretty subjective concept.
