Close doesn't count except in horseshoes and hand grenades....

And cornhole!

For the past two years, I've become an avid cornhole player. I started playing about three years ago with some old work friends and immediately got hooked. Of course, anything involving competition catches my eye.

We used to have tournaments during our lunch breaks at work (It was a VERY laid-back atmosphere at the job). I routinely won those tournaments, which got me even more addicted to cornhole.

Last summer, I played in a tournament with a teen from the Youth Center I help run. The event was at a church in Salem. We dominated - we outscored our opponents 94-12. The prize was 52 free Chick-fil-A sandwiches!

Yesterday (Sunday), I played in another cornhole tourney. I grabbed a different partner this time (Wouldn't have been fair to team up with my other one). We lost in the second round, but rallied through the loser's bracket to get to the finals.

We won the first game there to force the decisive contest for all the marbles. Ultimately, we lost 15-12 to finish second (the first LOSER).

But it was great to hit the cornhole tourney circuit again. I'm hoping to play in a few more this summer and fall. And I don't plan on losing again!
