The demonstrators don't want to look at this: Their salaries, pensions and insurances are on the backs of the everyday citizen. Defined, the everyday citizen is the one who works in private industry (if they can find it) and gets paid a whole lot less than the public employees. And that is a reality. Sarcastic advice to "go get a public employees job" ignores the reality that every private industry worker can't be hired to work for the local or state government.
Those demonstrators were as much as saying " I got mine and you aren't going to get it off me".
FEDERAL Government employees can't bargain on financial issues! Prez Jimmy Carter in 1979 (Democrat) with a Democrat Congress had that law enacted. They can only bargain on non-financial issues. So, why should State and Local government unions get to bargain on financial issues?
Besides, Kasich is going after the collective baraining rights of local and state employees only becaust he has a budget that is desperately out line. An $8 Billion shortfall is something you can't ignore. Where did it come from? It just didn't appear.
A local radio talk show host used to gripe that he was "taxed off". In those days, he spoke for a lot of people. Now that zero hour has come, lets see if the people have the will and the sense to make the needed corrections. Me, I doubt they will.

Just keep following Betras and Hagan, you stupid ignorant Democrats. The entire country will be in the same shape as this great Democratic bastion we know as the Valley.

georgejeanie, why the name calling? Republicans were in before the Dems or do you remember. This just didn't on their watch. You and the likes of people that think like you are the problem. Wise up!!!! Stand as one. You will get the right results. Have you not learned from whats been happening in the Middle East when people stand together? Changes will come for the better of the common folk. Are you not that? Or are you a poor Republican or even Democ. It does not matter who you have in office if they do not do what is best for all not just the rich and I bet you aren't that. Its amazing Republicans vote for Republicans and Dems vote for Dems. Why can't we put the people first. What is best for all.
