Carano has the inside track

Funny how you mention that Roxanne has 29 years in the treasurer's office but don't credit her with having excellent experience to do the job. The Vindicator definitely has its favorites, too. It is really obnoxious how the system is attacked in this town when The Vindicator's opinions are like a broken record these days.

Righetti flexes her muscle

Wow, this is some interesting story spinning. This article makes Tablack seem like a saint, Traficanti unblemished and Ludt the next pope. Sounds like the writer has an axe to grind against powerful women. Having experience in public office is now a bad thing? We should only elect people off the street that have absolutely no idea how the county runs? Commissioner Rimedio-Righetti was elected by the people not by the press (thankfully). If The Vindicator was more fair and balanced, maybe this article would have some legs to it. Otherwise, it is just as power hungry and set in its ways as Tablack, Ludt & Traficanti. Oh, my bad. ;)

Untainted products go beyond veggies and meat

Can't say enough how wonderful it is to learn about local farmers with organic products. I usually have to drive around Pulaski, PA going from farm to farm, grilling the farmers about their pesticides and feed methods. BTW, just because a farmer is Amish doesn't mean that they farm pesticide free!!!

Growing organic

Bravo to the Vindicator for publishing articles like this one (please do more)!!! So important to support our local, small farmers who grow organically. Wouldn't it be a dream if our school systems purchased from these farms? I was just reading the Boardman schools' menus & they were full of horrid, processed foods & veggies smothered in fattening sauces. We actually wonder why people aren't eating fresh, healthy food when they grow up eating chicken nuggets & broccoli with cheese?

Youngstown looks for ways to keep kids in the district

I'm usually bullish about Youngstown but I have a 4 yr old daughter & have been told by city cops, politicians, teachers & citizens from all areas to not send her to Youngstown schools. I'm sorry but who wants to risk your child's health, mental well-being & future friends by even the smallest chance she'll be endangered. Furthermore, when your child makes friends at school, the parents inadvertently become friends. Do I want to be friends with these children's parents? Do I want my child to clamor for a play date at their homes, in dilapidated neighborhoods? The problems are farther reaching than just schools with under performing children. I have lost two sets of great rental neighbors as their children reached school age. The reality is that any parent who really cares about their child will not send them to Youngstown city schools and will find a way to not send them even if it means going without so your child can attend a private school, voucher or no voucher. How do you solve that problem - the problem of not only reality but perception? It has gone on too long, too far.

U.S. representatives from Mahoning Valley praise passage of historic bill

Thank you to all the Ohio representatives who supported this bill! It will take time to get things tweaked to adjust to the changing face of health care but the process has begun. Those who have not had health care at times in their lives can understand the importance of this bill. It is unfortunate that those who have been blessed with good health care & full-time jobs with benefits cannot empathize with those who have not. Can we please just move past all the vitriol, violence & immaturity (Tea Partiers) & work through the Democratic system that this country has?

Putting the Covelli on the map

Kudos to Ryan! Looks like lots of folks got "buying tickets in the 21st century" 101 last week. Regardless of the venue or city, any big name will garnish this type of feeding frenzy for tickets. Hope he keeps up the good work & gets acts like Springsteen & Bon Jovi or anyone else looking for more intimate experiences with their fans rather than huge, mega concerts in emotionless stadiums that leaves one wondering "Why did I dish out so much money for a seat in the nose bleed section?"

Boom Boom’s movie on city to premiere in Cleveland

NoBS - because Cleveland has a Film Festival & Youngstown doesn't. It will initially get more bang for the buck there. Geeze, do we have to start this argument already? Just be thankful that locals made good & that a balanced look at Ytown will be shown rather than a lop-sided all-negative that tends to be shown on the news. I say let's applaud Ray & spur on his efforts to get the film shown locally.
