First the maintanance of the Garland facility was the resposibility of Mahoning County not Cafaro. Past Commissioners are at fault there. Second, no one buys a house or building without an inspection to realize future expenses. This was never done. It is becoming evident that Oakhill is a money pit. A better choice would have been downtown. It seems to me that McNally and Sciorentino have forsight and are trying to save the taxpayers the costs to come. Only time will tell. Once again the county is to be saddled with the unnessary expense of drawn out court proceedings. If you don't believe in conspiracys I suggest you read "Family of Secrets" by Russ Baker. A primer on how to "set up" anyone to get discredit them.
Hey Stan, Done & done. It has been months and every chance I get I pass more info on. The first attempt was at the strike force number. The next day all activity stopped for 2 months. Passed info on the Chief then neighborhood police. I understand these things take time so I am trying to remain patient. Trouble is, the "men" in the neighborhood have no balls and do not want to keep vigilance with me.
OK that was the North & South sides of town. We on the West side are trying to preserve the safety of our neighborhood yet, every other block has a drug house in plain sight. West siders had better start helping to preserve our community before it is lost to these scumbags forever and we are caught in the crossfire.
Shouldn't the display have been presented by our local fireworks company, Phantom? Perhaps we could have gotten a 20 minute display for the same bucks.
My neighbor is a renter. He and his children has occupied the house for over 20 years. His landlord has done nothing to maintain the house. The roof leaks, spouting is falling off, the house is literally falling apart around them. Any effort to contact his landlord goes unanswered. We are hoping with this new law, finally something will happen to put this home on par with the rest of the neighborhood. A homeowner must meet certain standards in the upkeep of their home, why not a landlord?
Several years ago the Playhouse had a 2 million $ grant to work from. The then Director used to money carelessly and was able to do so because it had a Board that was impetant and did not police the spending of these funds. It was lied to by the then Director. The first thing that should have been done was the roof . The pit theatre should have been preserved instead of covering it up with offices at obcene costs. Now there is no place to practice or have other events. The bar should have been preserved. The whole thing is a perfect example of why Boards should have more input into these kind of grants rather than give one person the power to use it as they desire.
What could Dicenzo or Aey bring to this valley? The Governor, Obama, respect from the ODP? Whether we like it or not it takes money, lots of money to run campaigns. Two to one, 3/4 of the naysayers do not vote or volunteer in the community. You want change? Look in the mirror.
First of all, Ed Aey was not running against Chairman Betras but rather Vice-Chair Carano. So his statement was out of place and out of line. The FIRST rule of politics is to never attack the person but rather the issue. His issue should have been how, in his addled mind, he would make a better Vice-chair than Carano. Not how many kids he has or what his personal animosities are. Now, one more thing. A statement was made by one of the candidates that she has not received a copy of the MCDP by-laws or constitution since 1999. At the 2006 meeting at St. Nick's Hall every committee person received a manila envelope with the by-laws and constitution as well as a handbook on their duties. Those not in attendance were mailed this. As we age we forget, or is it that we lie ? I hope it was just a case of memory loss.
mj can be regulated the same as alcohol. At least my stomach wouldn't ache so much from the 4 vicodin a day it takes to control the pain from Fibromyalgia.
Some dispute claims of widespread job growth in Valley
It seems to me that the most obvious way of checking on employment in the valley is to check on the receipt of taxes.
