There is very little today that is worth me going back home (YTOWN) for. The city, the way it was when I was a kid, is in ruins. I'm glad that at least they maintain what beauty is left of the city. Thank God for people that believe in this type of investment. It's nice to know that there is Mill Creek Park to go to so that I can remember my days as a child - Lord knows downtown is in shambles and the beautiful houses on the North side are pretty much crack dens.
I live in California now and not only would they get fired, the media would be all over them making thier lives miserable.
Of course, there are two sides to every story. Maybe there is something we don't know about the case. Let's just wait until we hear the court precedings before we point the finger and declare war on these officers.
If you can't take care of kids, what makes you think that you can take care of animals. $50 fine? What curtails people from taking on the responsibility of pet ownership if they are only going to be dinged $50. She obviously has no conscience any way if she treats her child as poorly as a pet.
You have to get a license to own a dog but any woman can squeeze out a kid. Where is the sense in that?
We have this problem in California and have put together a pretty tight program to fight this type of theft. It may be a good idea for Youngstown to do some research in other areas that struggle with this type of stealing. Why reinvent the wheel with solving this problem? Ask around what larger cities have done.
Oh...poor 15 year old playing with fire and getting a pair of underwear sent to her - now her and her parents are appalled along with the rest of the readers. The parents really have to take a hard look at what a harlot thier daughter really is. Yes, harlot is such a hard word, (call it like you see it) but I guarantee that any girl that is sitting on the internet cyber sexing with an older man is getting excited that she's playing "big girl". Admittedly so, the guy has problems if he KNEW that she was 15. Do we even know that she fessed up that she was 15? She could've been typing like she was 35. Kids today have so much access to smut (remember hiding in the woods looking at your dad's Playboys or National Geographics) that you can learn anything you want about sex off of the WB or the Internet. Before we start bagging on this guy, let's find out the facts if he knew her age. If he did know, then let's call him a freak (and don't act like you've never done any thing kinky either. That would just be hypocritical). Until then - innocent until proven guilty. That girl is just as guilty being a CT!
You know why we've stopped saying Merry Christmas? Because it's turned into a totally commercial experience that everyone, of all faiths, enjoy.
I understand your position. It's true, Christmas is a Christian holiday. You don't see massive amounts of folks celebrating Kwanzaa (Kwanzaa is a week long holiday created in 1966 and celebrated around Christmas time, for the purpose of giving African Americans an opportunity to celebrate African Heritage and as an alternative to customary Christmas celebrations).
And while I respect these ladies convictions (I can imagine the chats of disgust of other people while they are having their meetings - yeah, real Christian-like)Christmas isn't just a christian holiday. Everyone of different faiths get into the holiday spirit by exchanging presents. That's it. That's all Christmas is about to people any more. Other than going to church and waking up on a snowy day to open presents, how much more does a Christian actually celebrate Christmas and then go cuss out their neighbor, for what ever reason, 20 minutes later.
In my opinion, it's hypocritical for a Christian to have the market on celebrating Christmas. Just because the name Christ is in the name doesn't mean everyone can't get into the spirit. What are you trying to do? Take back your holiday? It isn't going to happen.
It's 2008...get used to this world getting smaller with everyone embracing the holiday season any way they want. Christmas is just the name that came along with it.
Christ digs everyone! Get on the bandwagon ladies, you know that's what it's all about!

The media loves to over dramatize everything!
