Strickland blew his chance and can better serve the cause from retirement. Cordray is ever capable as a public servant but has too many Harvard-Yale types around him to connect with Joe and Jane Doe. Ryan can have it if he wants and he is truly Strickland's pick. But he is also smart and he is not going to give up a sure thing for a risky run with no assurance he could raise the money necessary to run and win against a guy who can call his number in terms of campaign cash. FitzGerald would be ideal but in the end is to tethered to the grand experiement of county government. When it is all said and done we will be stuck with a washed up Strickland who spent four years keeping Republicans in state jobs who later turned on him. If Kasich wants four years, he likely gets it on the cheap. Correction, if Kasich wants a second term, he gets it. The truth is, Kasich is pulling for Obama to win so he has a free run in 2016. Write it down and remember you heard it here first!
Gains is honest? Honestly? Isn't this the guy who was willing to let an innocent man sit in the baster for shooting at him who he knew to be innocent? The logic of your endorsement is on shaky grounds, like when the PD ensorsed Kasich after reciting several weak points and an acknowledgement that we don't know what we are getting. Gains pursued criminal prosecutions against people who disagreed with the purchase of Southside hospital without due diligence. His office was step for step with the Ethics Commission to protect his investment. It appeared he had a vendetta against his political enemies. This is not an impressive man with an impressive record. He is mediocre at best. I say dump him and let's start over.
Josh has yet to figure where the urinals are in his new office and now he is running for the Senate. What a joke. He will get crushed. Then he can learn what the Treasurer is supposed to do.
SI's article was a sham, a hit job on a good and decent man. OSU buckled to the national pressure. What a joke. They don't deserve Tressel. As the punichment says: "let the punishment fit the crime." That was not done in this instance. SI had an agenda and strung lies together to support that agenda.
The SI article was a hit job, pureand simple. Don't think for a second that those scumbags wouldn't make up a quote to support where they were heading in the first place. They have enough integrity to fit into a thimble..... not fit to sniff Tress' jock......
Even by Bertram's low standards, that bashing was a stretch. In some circles, her commitment to public service would be celebrated. How would Bertram depict the career of George Voinovich? A mooch off the public system? There are many who have posited that, had Voino been held by the media to the same standard as it covered predecessor Richard F. Celeste, he would have finished his career in jail. Why blame Righetti for running against and defeating a sitting commissioner? Is that not our system? Or are we supposed to support those servants that Bertram likes? Why the hell hold elections, just ask Bertram who should serve? If only it worked that way. Perhaps the truest line is that elections have consequences. Ask the idiot police, fire and teachers who voyed for John Kasich and are now trying to fend off an assault on their incomes?
OK so I have been underground for awhile. But my legs are back, my voice found. It now looks like this whole god-awful mess is directed at the Cafaros and the others are simply what Arnold would term: "collateral damage." Otherwise, unless they accepted things of value for siding with the Big Cs for their support, aren't they just truly guilty of choosing sides unpopular to the Vindi, not that it would ever play favorites? Go figure!! If they did not accept things of value, which has not been alleged, this is a complete waste of time and resources. People choose sides every day. The entire Ohio General Assembly should be investigated and charged by the standards established in this case.
What a scam? He not only must audit, he must release the results of his audit to the public. It isn't even legal to block this information. It would make the auditor duplicitous in this concealment. It is no way to run a railroad in a democracy. Any Repub who is willing to stomach this end run of the tradition of our government would have cried foul if Ted Strickland pulled this stunt. It is a horrific precedent. It is unconstitutional. Lord help us.
Will Dems have gubernatorial primary?
