Teams write new chapter in Valley’s football tradition

woolyd - I agree. The OHSAA somehow needs to account for schools that can pull in student/athletes from other school districts. And it would need to include catholic, private and open enrollment schools.

But let's face it, there's a lot of catholic schools in the state of Ohio that don't even get into the playoffs. And Mooney and Ursuline aren't automatic bids either. So let's make sure we celebrate their achievements for the accomplishments that they are. Having two State Champions from Youngstown in the same year is awesome - period!

So all catholic school alum are cheaters, criminals and child molester sympathizers? And all public school athletes are not good enough to win a state title? Really?

Mooney1993, I can only imagine what caused your deep rooted hatred for these two schools. But I suggest you talk with someone about it. Your anger is going to destroy your life.

And you have accomplished something! You've managed to hi-jack a blog that should have been praising these young men. Hope you feel proud!

For what it's worth, Mooney moved up to D3 and Coldwater moved down to D5. Meaning both teams played and beat traditionally bigger schools. And neither Coldwater nor DeSales are slacker programs.

And by the way, Ohio State didn't play YSU in a playoff game.

For all you haters out there, do us all a favor. Get off the couch on Monday, go down to your local high school and volunteer. You may be the person they need to help make a difference. Your negative comments and opinions aren't helping anyone here.

Wow - what would these guys do if someone trashed their accomplishments? Or maybe the problem is, they've never had any. My guess is, they spend most of their lives worried about what everyone else has. Probably think the rich should pay all their bills too!

Get the chip off your shoulder. Your comments take away from all the hard work that these kids put in. In addition, attending a smaller, more structured school, will give many of those students opportunities that they otherwise wouldn't have had - both on and off the field.

Congrats guys. You deserve to have your day in the spotlight. The Valley is proud of you!
