I was born and raised in Youngstown back when it was a thriving city, but I no longer live there because my education took me to centers of higher learning. Reading the hateful, ignorant, stupid comments that have been made about Gay civil marriage makes me glad I left the backward, backwater, dump that Youngstown has become. God help you all in Youngstown as you sink into your oblivion of ignorance and hatred.
We are very happy to read about this happy and proud Gay couple in a Youngstown publication. In the title of this aritcle, however, it would have been far more appropriate and respectful for the editor of "The Vindicator" to call the these long-term, commited lesbians a "couple" rather than a "pair." The word "couple" often refers to people in a marriage or committed relationship. The word "pair" could refer to shoes, for example.
Catholic Bishops like Murray are making the Catholic Church more and more irrelevant with each passing day. One expects far broader, open-minded, "catholic" thinking of Jesuits. Is there room for Diversity in the Catholic Church?
The GREATEST Threat to Social Security and Medicare, and health care in general, are Republicans and other social conservatives. Only Democrats can save us baby boomers now.
We went there about 12 years ago with my wonderful Aunt Lola. It was one of the last times we saw her. A picturesque snow had fallen making the mill and bridge look like a Christmas postcard, and the goods being sold were old-fashioned and home-made. It is a wonderful memory of Mill Creek Park, fondly recalled from our present home in New York City. The memories of that day are treasured even more since my aunt passed away almost 11 years ago.
Republicans in Ohio must be STOPPED ---- and so must the ignoramuses that voted them into office. Question: Why are working class people in Ohio, who vote Republican, so unintelligent and self-defeating?
Because of this vote, Working-Class People in Ohio will Suffer and Greedy Corporations will Profit at their expense. The self-defeating, backward, poorly educated, conservative, working-class voters of Ohio who voted for Republicans are now getting what they voted for --- maybe they're getting what they deserve? Ohio is one of the most depressed and backward states in the union --- No one who has a choice would want to live there.
For those of us old enough to remember the fascist black shirts and the nazis, there are deeply disturbing similarities between them and the Tea Party members --- who behave like a bullying mob.
