Activists seek to put anti-fracking charter amendment on ballot

Most of the oilmen have drilled in their backyards. Hence how they are in the business. They were one of the people who saw industry like this as a chance for a good well paying job to support their families.

Anti-fracking charter amendment soundly defeated in Youngstown

BigBen you really want to "prove I am full of crap." Then you will really show me by not using any household items or anything else that is derived from fossil fuels. Live in a dirt/grass hut and eat rocks until you develop the perfect eco-friendly energy source. That will prove to us how serious everyone is about saving our environment. Youngstown is a perfect case of NIMBY (Not in my back yard). They LOVE using natural gas and oil but don't want any of it produced here.

P.S. There were 12 earthquakes linked to that injection well.

Hey Dwight. Educate yourself. PA does not have the proper geology to inject brine and wastewater. We here in Ohio have the proper geologic formations to inject the brine. Also we get a large amount of tax dollars from injectin PA wastewater.

Landowners face challenges with new leasing rules

Large companies forcing people to do things? Doing whatever is necessary for large profits? This is probably the most American thing possible, its just happening here in Ohio rather then a 3rd world country.

its amazing how unwilling people are to listen here. The US EPA could come out with a study stating that solar panels give everyone cancer and that shale gas cures diabetes and these people would still argue and day that its wrong. There opinions have more value then peer reviewed science. Now lets see a copy and paste website written by someone who has no real education or experience for this industry.

Hey Cambridge educate yourself on how electric utilities work. They themselves from the FAQ's say the power the city gets is not from even a majority renewable source. 42% of California electricity generation is from natural gas! Oh No!! Read a website before you post it haha.

If I choose Alameda Green, will I actually receive electricity from renewable energy generation sources?

Because of the way that power grids work, electricity from a specific facility or source generally does not flow directly to a specific customer's home. However, when you enroll in Alameda Green, we guarantee that renewable energy in the exact amount of your electricity use is generated and delivered to Alameda’s electricity grid (Western Electricity Coordinating Council region).

The renewable energy you purchase cannot be used by utilities to meet any Renewable Energy Portfolio mandates. Your participation in Alameda Green therefore creates additional demand for renewable energy beyond that required by the government, encouraging further development of green power projects.

76Ytown. In all seriousness very good information. Are you in the oilfield? And the term "fracking" has always been used, not just with horizontal wells. More people need your information rather then emotion based opinion. I have witnessed and supervised many frac jobs of horizontal wells. Things can and will go wrong in any operations in the production of energy. The answer is not to simply ban oil and gas exploration but to increase the power through lawmaking of regulating industries like the ODNR. The state inspectors live in Ohio and around the wells bein drilled. I promise you that they have the same safety concerns that everyone else does. But this name calling and blatant hatred is doin no one any good.

Hey all you ignorant people. Their are gas wells all over Ohio that were hydraulically fractured in the 1950's!!! The fact is you are to uneducated to know or acknowledge that fact. Are all of you dead or sick from those wells? Why were you not protesting them back then? Or during the 1970/80's Clinton formation oil boom? It's because you are Incapable of realizing your 50 years to late to make a point. And by the way this is not name calling. I am simply pointing out the FACT that this has been going on for years And you are not intelligent enough to see that. Now please follow up this with something about how I am lying or some website link.
