Mayor to wait on deciding whether to discipline Macejko

I completely agree with you BillWeaver! It's sad to think that Macejko is able to be in the position he is in considering what he's done to Bassil Ally... He seems to be a vindictive/discriminatory person and he still has power as city prosecutor to charge people...It's sad that what he has done seems to be okay with the mayor and his supporters. And it's scary to think of the power he would have if he were elected as county prosecutor. He should have no power over anyone or anything. I've just been waiting to see someone do the right thing, such as Sammarone or the democratic party and it seems that none of them can just do the right thing! It's not difficult people: If someone discriminates you fire them. Period.

Racist text riles race for Mahoning County prosecutor

Jay said again he never discriminated...then why were you ordered by the judge to write a letter of apology? and why would you agree to it if you didn't do anything wrong? and he previously said he had no idea about the racist texts regarding the obama stimulus package and getting his fried chicken and dime bag but he said tonight on the debate that those texts were from private phones. Yep, his private phone...A man like that with power is a scary proposition! Someone said let's just elect him and if he doesn't do good we can elect someone else in 4 years. That's a ridiculous idea. Imagine how much damage a man like that can do in 4 years. I'm sticking with Paul Gains. He made a good point tonight-he's never been involved in any scandals like Macejko.

Racist text riles race for Mahoning County prosecutor

Macejko won't admit to them and Betras backs him up. Surprise Surprise! The texts were subpoenaed from Hartrup and were texts between Macejko and Hartrup for the lawsuit and Macejko now claims that he's never seen them before this February? He would have seen them when the federal suit was pending and when Hartrup turned them over. Macejko knows he sent them, he just expects us to believe his lies. It seems that this guy just lies and lies and lies and now not only is he a liar, he appears to be a racist. Ugh. I agree with WC, this guy would be dangerous with any power.

‘Did he just call me a drunk?’

Sure Macejko would run for office because he's a narcissist. He has 6 employees, 2 of which filed discrimination suits against him, 1 which has already been resolved in favor of the employee and he still decided to run. He just cost the city thousands of dollars bc of his actions and still he decides to run. He hurt an innocent man with his discriminatory, malicious and racist actions and still he decides to run. He's just banking on the hopes that other people in the county either don't know or don't care that he's discriminates against nonwhite employees.

Public has a right to details of suit against Macejko, city

WOW! What happened is between Ally and Macejko??? Well I, as a voter, want to know what exactly Macejko did to discriminate. He already lost my vote by the fact that he discriminated. But I want to know how egregious his conduct was. And the public should know! How sick and twisted that anyone would try to justify racism, which is what discrimination is. He did something that cost the city a ton of money and his suitability as a prosecutor, a defender of rights and law, is now called into question. There's no way anybody can construe THAT any other way.

The good, the bad, the ugly

Macejko's response says that "I will not appear in any conversations..." He may not be personally appearing in taped conversations, but will his name come up? And what would the Cafaro's be saying about him if his name did come up? His name coming up in conversations is different than he being a party to a taped conversation--interesting word choice on his part. He does seem to have an interesting pattern of word choices though...The public is not stupid Mr. Macejko.

Islamic group: Unseal files in lawsuit

Macejko said that he can't answer questions about the campaign during city time HOWEVER he was on Louie Free yesterday (Friday) at 2 talking crap about Paul Gains. THAT'S CITY TIME. Jay, here's a question: Will you agree to release the evidence (tape recordings, apology letter) from Bassil Ally's case? Plain and simple. You know what the recordings contain, so if you say NO, we all know what that means. This is a simple question with a simple answer.

Gains’ re-election is not guaranteed

There should be an entire article about how horrible it is that the democratic party endorsed a racist for prosecutor-Jay Macejko. But the democratic party chair is Dave Betras who also firmly endorse Marc Dann and look how he disgraced our community. Jay Macejko has 6 employees as city prosecutor and 2 of them have brought discrimination suits and 1 has already been resolved in favor of the employee. He's making victims of his staff when he's supposed to be protecting victims of crime. I'll vote for whoever the Democratic party and Dave Betras DOESN'T endorse.

Alcohol, cigarettes' effect on fetus limits evidence in Zorger homicide case

The judge wouldn't let the the evidence come in that the fetus was viable! Why was he keeping it out??? The fetus was viable and killed by the mother and the prosecutors had the evidence to prove that and it wasn't allowed to be used! There's another article on vindy with more facts...read that article, what happened doesn't make sense. I want answers!!!

Zorger pleads guilty in crash that killed fetus, another woman

Justthefacts-you're incorrect. the judge didn't allow the blood alcohol to come in because the prosecutor didn't go forward when originally scheduled. This time the judge didn't grant a request for medical records until after a deadline passed. The prosecutor made the request long before the deadline. Then after granting the request after the deadline passed didn't let the information be used. Then why did he grant the request anyway if he didn't mean for it to be used? And why didn't he grant the request when it was first made? This doesn't make sense.
