I think you have to look at what Mayor Williams walked in to on day one. Although he had internal City Hall knowledge, it took the better part of the first two years of his term to begin to repair the disfunction of the previous administration.
Youngstown continues to lose tax revenue, our hospitals are expanding operations in the suburbs and reducing operations in the city, more and more vacant land, one of the largest per-capita home foreclosures in the Midwest, and continued other hits to our regional economy.
What are the positives? Turning Tech was doing well, although they recently hit a pinnacle, YSU is expanding and building new facilities, new housing development on the Northside offering an affordable quality apartments as an alternative to the over priced Courtyard Apartments, new apartments and condos coming to Downtown, increased greenspace through working with CCA, Wick Neighbors is shovel ready for their development, and this Administration is more open and transparent than any other before it.
Department heads and the Mayor answer the questions of the tax payers in person, on radio, and in the Vindicator. That's important to me as a taxpayer.
