Anti-smoking group proposes raising cigarette tax

States are going to be very disappointed. Of the last 40 states to pass a new cigarette tax only 8 saw a rise in revenue and the others saw as much as a 68% drop. With this new Federal tax there is going to be an even a larger drop in revenue. When will these idiots understand they are taxing poor people into quitting with no hope of generating more income. You cannot hope to increase revenue and drive the very thing you are taxing out of business. This is going to cost the Federal and State Governments the Billions they are hoping to get plus Billions less than they are receiving now. Greed and stupidity are not a good mix. One Senator, on the floor of the Senate, said we will need 22 million new smokers to keep the SCHIP program funded. Without new smokers it will fail within 2 to 4 years. Has anyone noticed that smoking has gone from 54% to less than 20.4%? Looks like the smokers will be joined by all the Non-Smokers in paying for this SCHIP program the Anti-Smokers are so proud of. Then you will hear some real bitching. Being open to others being over taxed comes back to bite you and it will. It’s called Socialism and other ism’s we won’t like.

Anti-smoking group proposes raising cigarette tax

When was the last time you saw a poll that didn't support the reason for starting the poll? I know of one that was definitely biased. When the caller ask their survey questions and the first answer was, I am 85years old and I have smoked for 50 years, the caller immediately hung up. It isn't hard to make a poll biased. It's not hard to dismiss answers that are not wanted. Polls are just a form of advertisement. Do you believe every advertisement you hear?

This the most unscientific way to substantiate anything. Epidemiology is incapable of pinpointing any cause of disease. It's nothing more than a poll that depends on memory. Questions can be slanted to get the needed response.
It's all slanted to keep the money rolling in.

Enforcement of smoking ban should not come as surprise

Health Departments are supposed to protect us from unseen dangers. One thing Smoking is not, is unseen. As soon as a non-smoker enters an establishment, they know if there is smoking.

The EPA 1993 Report that stated, 3,000 people a year die from SHS/ETS. WHERE ARE THE BODIES? No one can find them. Not one.

Federal Judge Osteen, an avid anti-tobacco Judge, vacated the report as a fraud, with the help of independent scientists, along with two Congressional Committees.

SHS was added to the carcinogenic tables in 2004 only at the insistence of the EPA using their fraudulent report as the reason.

I know of at least 250+ studies that show no risk from SHS/ETS with only 4 showing a risk factor of more than 3. That's risk not cause.

What has happened to reporting? If it's not Politically correct it doesn't get printed.

Lung Association gives Ohio low marks in its stop-smoking efforts

I give them an A+ for finding a better use for those funds.
The downhill slide of the Antis has started. The lies, the hatred and the bigotry become more and more blatant, more and more virulent, and more and more TRANSPARENT. The freedom fighters in Hawaii, Wisconsin, Michigan and Ohio make more and more headway in exposing the profit-seeking money hungry liar bigots for what they are, all sheeple of the same ilk, pawns of the RWJF, JnJ, the ACS, the ALA, and the AHA

Smoking Bans are based on The EPA fraudulent report of 3,000 deaths a year due to SHS. That number is now claimed by many States and a few Counties that like the number. Many like the larger numbers of 53,000, 63,000, 400,000, 480.000 and one even likes 1.1 million. I guess these are all really nice numbers. The only real number for those killed by SHS is 0.
The numbers that seem to count are the number of non-smokers who don't like the smell and the number of Legislators who love to get Grants for their pet projects like re-election funds.
The manufactures of Smoking Cessation Products know these numbers very well. Their profits have increased by 40% or more. Thanks to all those who don't mind other people losing some of their rights. Don't worry, your loss of rights are just around the corner and well deserved.
