Obviously it depended on where you were standing to be able to see what you saw. Someone on a different side of the car would have seen it differently from behind the car and so forth. Marks on a hood of a car and side of the car would be facts. Hear say from a text would not. I agree if the police ask you to do something you do it! Period end of story! He should have listened, he shouldn't have drove away dragging someone. Police shouldn't be being second guessed. People these days are sue happy. Ridiculous! You do the crime you pay the price. It's no wonder crime is the way it is in this area! There are too many cry babies who do the crime and find other people to blame for their wrong or try to find a loophole out!Criminals should have NO RIGHTS! You give up your rights when you chose to break the law.
@ Goincrackers: I hope Cory's father did get him a attorney cause he's going to need it when he's found guilty of everything he's done. The only big bucks he'll be seeing is the money he has dish out to keep his "good kid" out of jail or bail him out!

I hope your friend recovers to his fullest but I hope he's punished appropriately as for he also has alot to lose from his actions. Were you there? I know people that were and they agree Cory hit the officer and yes they saw it with their own eyes. And people can judge me all they want cause I know I'm reponsible for my actions and would never do anything I could be crucified for! @ copswife: There are alot of people who support what your husband HAD to do! @ Buddydog: He didn't shoot him for loud music he shot him for using his car as a weapon, running from the police, and endangering everyone else in the way of that car. As for his fathers past... that's his father not him. Would you expect to be punished or classified for what you parent did. Doubt it?
In response to Bec: Hmmm Cory would never intentionally hurt anyone??? He purposefully aimed at the officer and hit him. Pretty sure being hit and drug across a parking lot doesn't feel to good. I don't know about you but I would after someone who hit me with their car (a weapon) and drug me and continued to speed up as I was dragged I'd fear for my life also! I know there is always three sides to a story however with an officer reaching into your car to try and turn your ignition off you wouldn't see him basically in your lap let alone before that on the hood of your car??? Come on!!! The officer did shoot him once, what was he supposed to do? Was he to allow him to just drive away and possibly hit more people. He did not care that he hit and drug an officer he's not going to care to run anyone else over. Cory may be a good kid however his decisions that night to drink, drive, and assault someone got himself in trouble and he'll have to suffer the consequences of his actions. Officer Chance was justified! You know everyone complains about crime in this area! Quit complaining and let the police do their job! If this community continues giving people a slap on their wrist for their actions, nothing will ever be fixed.
