That "mickey mouse" amatuer hockey team is putting more people into the nhl than the Steelhounds ever did. The nhl combine was held this week and the 100 top draft prospects were invited (mind you that these were the top 100 eligible skaters from leagues all throughout North America) and 3 of them were ex-Phantoms and many others who were at the combine have played on visiting teams against the Phantoms down at the Covelli. You truely are seeing the up and coming stars in Div 1 college and the nhl right downtown @ the Covelli. Most people who bash it are just upset that the nightly "staged fighting" isn't happening like when the Steelhounds played there. Oh, and btw, I have no affiliation with the Phantoms what so ever. Just tired of it being bashed.
I hope that none of the people demanding more police presence in Boardman have ever commented in a derogatory way about the police in Poland. I've seen many of those comments on this site. It would be rather hypocritical! As a Poland resident, I love seeing all the police cars!
& it didn't support bad "pro" hockey either. Every time you post something it is negative about this. At least you aren't going into this with a typical negative y-town attitude (please note sarcastic tone!).
The quality of ECHL hockey is phenomenal, and no one could argue that. But that being said, there is NO way Y-town will ever get or be able to sustain a league of that quality. That being said, the speed and quality of hockey in the USHL is higher than any other league we could get in this area, and we will be seeing many more players who will soon be in the NHL than if we were watching the CHL. Be objective! If you truely know and enjoy hockey (not just fighting on skates!) you will agree.
Well said Todd! I agree completely. When you look at all aspects of both options the USHL is the better option. The quality of play is phenomenal, but also of great importance, the cost of a ticket is more affordable. My family of 5 can go to a USHL game for about $40, versus $100 for an ECHL game. Quite a difference in todays economic forecast! I know peronally speaking I would be much more apt to go to alot of USHL games @ that cost, & I guarantee I would not attend many ECHL games for that amount of money.
If you want to see quality hockey, played by skilled players who have an up & coming career in the NHL or high quality minor league (AHL), you will want the USHL @ the Chevy Centre. These kids are tomorrows stars & age should have nothing to do with it! Quality hockey speaks for itself. If interested in seeing out of their prime players or players with little chance of advancement, then bring in a low level minor league team. They are just buying time until they are selling cars or bagging groceries. I truely don't understand how people who say they know and love hockey don't see the quality of the USHL over the ECHL. Hockey is more than fighting people (although they do mix it up, its just not staged like these goons).
