It's real funny how the teams with the most state football championships are Catholic (Ignatious-11, Newark Catholic-8, Mooney-8, Moeller-7, Benedictine-6, Delphos St. John's-6, St. Henry-6. Year in and Year out they are tough. You don't have that at the Public Schools. What are you going to get with open enrollment, maybe a few kids coming to your school, not pulling kids from 20+ different schools in the area. I hear guys on 570AM joking about the "University of Cardinal Mooney". Now why would Youngstown people be joking about this, unless they know it's true. Gate K: Alot of the schools you mention border one another example Beaver Local and East Liverpool. You might get a few kids who open enroll, and not all of them if any play sports. You don't get kids clear across the county coming to these schools. I know for a fact Mooney has kids from Trumbull, Mahoning, and Columbiana County playing, theres probably more counties but thats all I know. So tell me if these small universities "Catholic Schools" have a ping pong team, and if there were a state championship, your teams would probably be dominated by Chinese players no doubt. Mooney is fortunate to get the call against Steubenville where the player held the ball and moved Mooney 15 yards closer for the last second win.
