Canfield is a bunch of "wanna-be's" They hide crime to protect their property value and image -which is going downhill fast! I know real estate and when many people leave Y-town -they head to Canfield to buy your homes that have been hit by the bad housing market! Anyone can move there now and afford a home! It's not what it used to be. It's a parallel world to Y-town. The parent or parents in Y-town contribute to the delinquency of their kids, just as the Canfield parent(s) do! Talk about justice coming to Canfield!
R U kidding me? Talking about Austintown truck stop moving to Canfield. You people in Canfield are disgusting. Canfield downplays its crime to protect their property values -which by the way are going down like everyone else! Canfield is not the "rich" area people think. I knowreal estate and those people you hate are moving in! I love it. Many Canfield parents compare to Yo parents in they don't give a crap what their kids do, and Canfield is worse because they plain out contribute to their "priviledged delinquent kids." Canfield is the next Youngstown!
And by the way, the majority of homes, no matter where (except Lake Milton) have lost value. It is expected to get worse too. Schools don't even seem to matter anymore. And, guess what? When the values drop, the property taxes we pay will not drop relative to the lower value! But you can control future property taxes by voting YES for SB2. I know I hate paying for (public) schools where teachers get raises based on time served and more education credits. And they make decent money for 180 days of work! To think we have to pay for their benefits and pension stinks -it's time they quit robbing us taxpayers to foot what should be their contributions. TV commercials for teachers and all are using scare tactics! That's just not right!
I hope all of you complaining will vote "yes" on SB5 -then teachers that deserve to be on a payroll will be able to stay, and finally seniority will not rule -say bye-bye to bad teachers or those not in it for the kids!
I found county appraisers making large mistakes in decreases in areas that should not. They also can't explain their actions or point to a source to back their values. People should watch out for this. And one appraiser doesn't seem to know what he is doing and had mis-stated he couldn't take a recent sale to use as a value indicator!
Also, the county auditor should be ashamed of himself that notices by mail of "tentative values" could not go out to the public (which pays taxes) because their office can't afford the mailings! Why? When you are messing with people's largest investments, they should have the right to know by mail-not referred to the paper or internet. Do you know how many elderly people don't get a paper or on the internet? This is just not right!
Geromajor: I see your point, but I know I can't take another tax -can you see my point??? My property taxes are already sky high! Austintown is all about "yes" to taxes! When will people wise up around here and start saying no to more taxes? I have to live within my means -and it's getting harder to do, and yet you come begging for more???? We are the least wanted area for people wanting to buy homes.-Yes, everyone wants Canfield or Poland (I am in the real estate business). And at least Poland and Canfield stood up and voted NO to more levies last time (schools). When will Austintown wise up and do the same. Does everyone have deep pockets in Austintown? I wonder????
Does Austintown ever stop with taxing its property owners? I know I had enough. Our property taxes are the highest around, and no one wants to own a home here (that has any sense)! Yet owners (and renter's- who should have their rents increased everytime time they vote yes on levies) -still vote in favor. I don't care it's only a .5 mil-enough is enough! I like senior citizens, but can't afford to keep paying taxes. Let the Senior Center hire a grant writer or do fund raisers! There has to be another way.

For reappraisals, it’s all in the details
