Poland residents urge caution on drilling

these residents and council members really have their act together on this issue. all rural townships in the area should be taking note and following their lead before it is too late. we must ban fracking now!

Hagan scores half-truth in earthquake comments

it was very easy to find that this was taken out of context. he didn't say all of ohio. he was referring to youngstown and to man-made earthquakes. bob is one of very few politicians who are working to make sure that we leave our children water that is safe to drink and air that is safe to breathe. right now he is one of the last hopes to stay living here. he certainly would have my vote for governor.

No cause for alarm over radioactive drilling waste

if even just a "low level" was discovered, is this enough to show regular on site testing should be required? how much radiation escapes in the transport? is anyone concerned that they don't know where this went? i don't think we should be comfortable with such a one-sided sweeping under the rug of this issue. this is RADIATION people!!!! if you do a little research you can easily find reports in PA with radium levels in the thousands of times greater than allowed around the wells. i don't think this is something to make light of. we need more outside help in the valley as we are being taken advantage of so quickly and cannot trust the ODNR. i want to see someone trustworthy test those cuttings. we should be demanding this!!!! OHIO, TELL THEM TO HIT THE ROAD AND STOP SHOVING THEIR CANCERS DOWN OUR THROATS!!!!

House hearing at YSU disappoints Rep. Hagan

the mahoning valley would be in big trouble without Bob Hagan. He gives us hope that the youngstown area might still be able to be considered habitable in a few years or less. wouldn't it be nice if we did the right thing here and broadened the tax base, increased property value, instead of chasing even more people out? bob can't do this alone, he needs the help of those who really DO care about our chidren's health and future. This seems like a good time for a dose of common sense: a constant theme of the industry as late seems to be, "there is no way to prove that 'we' caused these quakes, because ohio is already a very siesmically active and/or potentially active part of the country." common sense makes one ask: so then why are they drilling/injecting here in the first place? Even worse, why are they in such a rush and doing it on such a large scale? We only get one chance to do this right. there a no do-overs.

Another Ohio community rocked by quakes

GREAT REPORTING!!!! it helps us to sleep at night knowing that SOMEONE besides, of course, the brilliant Bob Hagan, is really working on uncovering the TRUTH and protecting the health and safety of the residents of this valley and beyond.

200 rally in Columbus against hydraulic fracturing

A resident of Coitsville told me that it is not just injection wells being drilled in Coitsville but also numerous gas wells being drilled in the Clinton-Medina formation. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN CLARIFIED IN THE EDITOR'S NOTE. This information is easily obtained by ODNR. When they are done with the Clinton-Medina formation they will then drill deeper into the Utica. Drilling in Coitsville has been going on for years. I wonder how many others there are already sick? It's a real shame. Coitsville is (was) a beautiful area. I used to hunt there.

D&L Energy to finance geological study of injection well area

This would be a good time to remove emotion and look at facts. Fact: chemicals used in fracking are known carcinogens. Fact: cancer clusters among children already exist in areas where injecting frack waste occurs. Fact: concrete cracks. Fact: water in ohio is already contaminated with chemicals as a result of drilling, fracking, and injecting. a Fact for the very misinformed walter sobchak: injection wells have caused seismic activity in ohio before and in many other parts of the country/world. Just because an industry and a government bought by that same industry denies the Facts - doesn't make them any less true. Please do your research and remember: a little common sense goes a long way. BRAVO to Susie Beiersdorfer for stating the FACTS that everyone needs to know. Ytown needs more citizens like Susie to stand up to this industry and Kasich administration that continues to poison our water and our air and now destroy our homes with earthquakes.

Injection wells not new to Valley, so why are we all shook up

derf5983:
you should be more worried about children having fracking-related cancers than children having jobs. freeatlast: here is a fact for you: chemicals used in fracking are known carcinogens. another fact: concrete cracks. another fact: water in ohio is already contaminated with chemicals as a result of drilling, fracking, and injecting. fact: cancer clusters among children already exist in areas where injecting frack waste occurs. please do your research and remember: a little common sense goes a long way.

D&L rails at Hagan, mayor

a little common sense goes a long way here. who do we trust - science or the company making money off of poisoning us and destroying our homes. what d&l (and many other companies) is doing to us is criminal and they should not only be chased out of town, but brought up on charges. the fines are a tiny slap on the wrist compared to the big money they are raking in. only 300,000 for contaminating a river? put the fines in the 100's of millions and maybe then they will be more careful about what they are doing (all drillers.) right now, they are laughing all the way to the bank. why, MR. SKOLNICK, do you think it neccessary to give these criminals so much voice? people are already getting very sick from contaminated water right here in the valley. and this is just the start of the drilling? how much more are we supposed to take? TELL THE TRUTH!!!! maybe karl henkel can help you get your head out of your you know what. Skolnick's coverage of the city council meeting was filled with lies. fact check anyone?
