All of these so-called internet cafes that are really gambling parlors should be shut down. They confuse consumers and tourists who are looking for real internet cafes where patrons sit down, browse the internet and check their emails. Let them call themselves internet sweepstakes parlors or internet gambling parlors. When did we become so accepting of business that lie about what they do?
There are trail police patrols. Maybe the park should be addressed about your friends problems. For instance, is his house between the bike trail and the road? Maybe an adjacent access trail should be created so ingress and egress can be accomplished without using his property. The trail police aren't going to be able to solve this kind of problem on their own, nor will they. They are present to prevent violent crimes, littering, help lost children etc. Also, given a fence around a property, I don't see most reasonable people going over that fence and onto a property.
You all are a bunch of whiners. 5 years of prison seems like a fair punishment for his violation. Nobody including me likes anyone who harms children. That is his only offense that is of any consequence. You cannot make someone homosexual, they are born that way. duh.
What a bunch of moaners I have never heard such bs in my life. I life near Cleveland and many students here take the RTA to get to their own school and/or schools in other districts every day and have been doing so since my parent's days of going to school in the 1940's and 1950's.
The bus terminals here are patrolled by police and have closed circuit cameras. I have been in Federal Station in Youngstown myself and there is an armed guard there as well. If you are afraid to send your kids out into what most of the world uses to get around, then drive them yourselves. My step kids have been going to Mayfield Heights schools for years and we live in Euclid. We drive them 20 minutes in traffic to drop them off, and pick them up as often as needed. It is true they could take the RTA and have on occasion, but it takes an hour and a half with connection, so we try to drive them when possible. Why, because we care about our kids. If I sent my kids to a private school or parochial school in Lake County, I wouldn't dream of expecting the school district to transport them. That is just absurd.
I think the program is great. The punishment should fit the crime. Sitting a non violent offender in jail is a waste of my taxes and my time. Giving people a task to work on also builds self esteem and self worth. As for welfare, it seems like a great number of people in the Youngstown area are preoccupied with hate for those on welfare. I have a good job and earn what I get, and I have no envy or hate of those on welfare. They get very little and can't stay on it for a long time. It is not a glamorous life at all. I think there is a lot of misinformation and incorrect assumptions about those on welfare so a lot of you who are unhappy want to blame your own problems on the welfare recipients. I travel a lot, and it is when I am in the most economically depressed areas like Youngstown and Cleveland that I hear the most complaints about those on welfare, and yet your towns are the ones that benefit the most from it. I just think where the economies are depressed people all like to blame each other instead of the proper source(s) of the problem.
LOL urban dwellers confronting....Do you really mean beggers?
Most "urban dwellers" I see in downtown Youngstown are engaged in eating, shopping, jogging, working, etc and not begging...
How can you tell the "urban dweller" lives in an urban area or didn't just drive in from the suburbs to pan handle?
I find $1 an hour quite reasonable to assure that I have a parking space. The meters should allow parking up to 2 hours for $2 though for those who want to shop more, eat and drink more, or do whatever..Most of the meters in other cities take visa, mastercard, and do allow 2-4 hours.
The alternative is marking tires and putting a boot on violators and charge them $50-$100 to get the boot off... I think Youngstown is being very considerate.
Great technology - it will enhance safety. yes, overpriced. I need to start a company and buy LED's (all made in Asia at dirt cheap prices) and construct my own traffic signaling devices equipped with remote signaling to sell at $90,000 markup per device....:)
The follies of youth...Let's just hope he learns from his mistakes and goes on to do good.
AskemeifIcare and Lifes2short have already sentenced him to no life for one mistake....
I did some of the same things in my 20's (stealing) and now that I'm in my 40's I have my own house, car, fiance, 2 stepsons and one son, and I have worked hard for what I have, legitimately. I am the most honest hard working person now. So don't condemn a person immediately.
To make Internet cafes legal in Ohio, amend the constitution
