When I left the game, on my way out, I talked to a handful of angry people who did not get refunds. And I was standing about 10 feet away from the ticket-takers, who were not giving refunds.
I'm glad that, ultimately, people got refunds but it wasn't happening in the first few minutes after the game was canceled.

jrolley, while you are correct, the main reason to join a league is for all sports, not simply for football.
I view that as a more impactful decision than joining the Gateway, although joining the Gateway did come first.
