The dear folks of Youngstown for example, although they would never admit it, are the ones responsible (as of recent days) for their city falling to ruin.
That's right people. Its not the Steel mills closing 30+ years ago, nor the job loss at GM.
It's you. Times change and you have to change with them. Its not the 60's anymore.
Who ever heard of a city today that will be without public transportation in the near future? The train doesn't even stop here.
Who ever heard of city closing school doors forever one after the other?
One only needs to visit Youngstown. All you update are your cars & TVs; otherwise, it like living in a time warp.
A typical Youngstowner doesn't shovel the sidewalk in front of their home during Winter months.
"Why should I? Its City property and not my responsibility. Walk in the street." That's the response I have received.
Apathy abounds in Youngstown.
While other folks in cities and towns around the country are paying $20,000 and up for yearly property taxes alone, the dear people of Youngstown veto a dime hike in their taxes.
Oh sure, everyone wants improvement, but not many are willing to pay for it. What do you expect for nothing?
Complaints about this city, from the people of Youngstown, are flying.
So many complaints, its laughable.
Don't whine about the cost of filling up your tank. Take the bus.
Don't complain when someone slips on the sidewalk in front of your home and sues you for their medical bills.
No one wants to hear it. Sovel and save yourself the trouble.
Youngstown, quit relying on hand outs. Out of a job? Stop planting signs that cry for help and create your own job.
Only you can revitalize this City.
It's your community, fix it; and
for Pete's sake, pick up after your dog.
If you are going to be angry about Youngstown's decline or the decline of the valley, look in the mirror and yell at yourself. Why don't you tell it like it is. The people are what's wrong with this valley; not Marc Dann. After all, look what he has to put up with.
