You ask, where is the rage?
There is probably plenty of rage in the souls of our dead ancestors.
Those who faught with pitch-forks and shovels and DIED for workers rights in the 1930's.
They knew that it took extreme measures to protect what they had, and get what they deserved.
These were the hard lessons they learned from the lives they left, before coming to this country.
They have plenty of rage for us now, because we have failed them by not fighting for what
has been taken away from us so skillfully and gradually, hoping we wouldn't notice.
Now, it's too late to fight. We should have started fighting in the 1970's.
Wow!
How much did this one cost the (you and I) taxpayers?
One BILLION dollars vs. "I got mine, and to hell with you" mentality. Hmmm?
They're out of their minds. Wake up and smell the coffee. Look around you. You're lucky you have a job. But, even that can be remedied.
How embarassing!
This news IS NOT "fit to print".
This PROVES that the Mahoning Valley is some kind of "Bizarro World"!
I'm ashamed to be a Democrat!
"LaTourette said National City was the only one of the nation’s 25 biggest banks that wasn’t offered bailout money."
Why does Northeast Ohio deserve to be continuously dumped on again and again?
Someone must really "have it in for us".
More evidence that common sense is dead and gone in the USA. Here is a college-educated, productive individual whose only real crime is trying to play by the rules, while innumerable free-loaders are allowed to stay in this country. Shame on us. How about helping this guy Tim Ryan!
For those of us who are old enough to remember, the initial "kiss of death" for the downtown was the city's refusal to permit free parking. All the new "Plaza's" had "free and ample parking", and won us over. Short-sighted greed helped kill downtown shopping.
History repeats itself unless you learn from your past.
If you want to see how many people from Youngstown work in Cleveland or Pittsburgh already, all you have to do is count cars at the Ohio Turnpike Interchange between 6:00AM to 8:00AM. There's a mass exodus every morning, Monday through Friday. I happen to be one of them. But I wish I didn't have to be. And, it's not likely to change very soon.
My hat's off to Ryan, Williams, and O’Brien on this one.
We should all really focus on this project, with all haste, energy, and resources available.
A high-speed rail system would bind the Cleveland/Youngstown/Pittsburgh business corridor together.
And, save the area from further decay.
"Full speed ahead!"
