I will bet you that it is MUCH less than the numbers that the politicos throw out there all the time. Also, 13% on $30 million is almost $4M!!! How much did you pay in taxes last year? My guess is that Mitt paid as much in taxes by himself as everyone commenting on this page mulitiplied by 10,000!!! Those of you who live in this valley and support the same-old politics of the now very Socialist-Left Wingers need to wake up. It ain't your grandpa's party anymore!!! This country needs to move forward and we arent going to get it done with everyone sitting on the wagon, rather than pulling it.
As a resident of Boardman Township, and as someone who grew up in a family of firefighters, I dont think that it is completely ridiculous that Boardman is looking to purchase this truck. What I think IS completely ridiculous is how they handle some of their day-to-day operations. For instance...do we really need to have six firefighters in a firetruck that sucks $4.50 per gallon diesel fuel running around town to go to the grocery store? I know, I know...the excuse is that "we all have to be together with the truck incase something happens!". Well, here is a novel idea...how about one guy goes in the Suburban that the fire department owns and gets the groceries. IF there is an emergency...he can drive to the emergency! Seems logical right? Also, this first responder stuff is total BS. Nine times out of ten, the ambulance gets there before the fire truck ANYWAY! Be done with all this wasting of diesel fuel and man hours and start an ambulance service within the township and begin charging the same rates that the current privately owned ambulance services charge. Either that, or make the police the first responders, their cars are much lighter, easier on gas, and much less dangerous when they are flying around town like bats out of hell for a guy who twisted his ankle. When the number of actual structure fires per year within the township can be counted on one hand, it does seem a little bit much to be purchasing a truck of this size, but hey...who are we taxpayers who continue to see our paychecks dwindle to tell you trustees who make $20,000 per year on top of your regular employment to attend one or two meetings a month, what to do. Obviously, you have it all figured out!

You 'Occupy" people really need to find something constructive to do with your lives. How about a JOB? First of all, how lame is your protest that you are only there 9-5 Mondays through Fridays? Since when did protesting work off of bankers hours? Either you are there full time or you arent. If you are there full time, and truly believe in what you are doing, then you do it WITHOUT all of the amenities. You are standing on PUBLIC property, not PRIVATE property, which means you have to abide by the rule of law. You cannot build a tent, a house, a barn, or any other structure that you need. The biggest issue that the state and federal governments face with being able to test for drugs among their employees are the UNIONS!!! Something that those of us in the Mahoning Valley know all too much about! Why is it that if a union employee gets caught using drugs or alcohol while on the job, they get paid treatment by their company??? It is completely wrong and the system is completely broken. Where I work, if you get charged (mind you I said CHARGED, not CONVICTED) of a DUI, you automatically LOSE YOUR JOB!!! Companies should not have to pay for someones addictions, or for them to get help. Hats off to Florida and I hope that Kasich plans on pushing this same law through here in Ohio.
