This old debate is a tired one. We live in Canfield, but choose to pay nearly 7000.00 dollars in addition to our Canfield taxes to go to a parocial school. It would certainly be cheaper and easier to send our kids to Canfield, but in our judgement not better. The public school boosters are frequently wining about their inability to compete, citing recruiting. I would argue private schools are at a disadvantage in that area. Their enrollees have to pay. The public schools limit their own ability to compete. Some because their boosters want to guarantee control over whose children play. In addition if they wished too compete by enlarging their draw area they simply have to accept some form of open enrollment. Forty of forty six area schools do. Perhaps those who don't are more concerned about inviting regional students into the classroom with their own children.
They have only their limited and provential mindset to blame.
What is so sad is that if we get caught up in the excitement of it all we should simply be forgiven of all our acts. The 4 parents are remorseful. Please isn't everyone remorseful when they get caught. Ask all the people in jail when they find God how remorseful they are and I am sure they would also tell you they got caught up in the excitement of it all. Why did the Vindy not post their names? Where is the media when you really need them. This is 4 special people in the community of Mooney that have now showed their power in the Catholic schools. Yes, we all know who they are , and they have now gotten away with what we are all use too. How sad for our Diocese not to get involved with this. I am sure that the 40 families of these kids have been told mums the word. If you say something you may not be invited to the next party at the happening home . This is where we have gotten @ Mooney. Everyone should be so proud of these parents and their cover-up. Rest assure these arrogent parents are out today holding their heads up high. They have no SHAME.
This is a football town. Whatever a football player wants to do they do. Dido on the parents. Education @ mooney is very second and God would be way down the line. Wonder why the superind. is letting others do the job cuz lots of powerful people pay for alot of stuff that goes on at mooney and he of course would be stepping on someones toes. Maybe the supplier? Yes, alot of schools have stuff going on, but mooney people think they are above the law. My children attend catholic schools, and we see this all the time, and I am sure the investigation will be a slap on someones hand depending on who it is. To many bad things have happened with Mooney maybe they should not think a state title is all its about.
Here is a happy note. Pick up the Canfield news (Todays) . On the front cover you will see a baseball team. This of couse is not our community baseball team, but this is a special travel ball team and then read some names any come to mind. Well I will give you a hint those our some of the teachers kids on that team. You maybe saying so what. Well let me clue you in . Travel ball cost thousands of dollars to play. Yes. You may think not, but alot of average working people can not play travel ball, because you need lots of gas to get around from weekennd to weekend ,food and not to mention lodging and don't forget just the cost to be on the team. Well why are these teachers able to do this when others can't afford the 95.00 for community baseball. It's because these are the perks that they can do and others have to elliminate because we have learned to cut back. Every week you will see their display in the paper it was there last week also, and we are suppose to feel bad because they get to travel all over and play baseball.. I am sorry we live in a time when ALL class of people no matter what you do have cut back and they have such arrogance in putting this in our faces. You want to help your community support the baseball in it, but then again ( Mr. Mayor) I guess that would be coming down to the average person level.
So for the bloggers who are rushed to think we are suppose to support their spending habits. Remember this one word . NEVER
Why start with the band? It doesn't matter if they march or don't march or it's required or not. . As one stated where are all the teachers . Not one is speaking out.. Truely ever since they put out salaries of the teahers that really hit most people. They know this is about them and what they make. Wouldn't it be nice if they said listen we want to help show our community our support. We would like to talk about cuts, because after all this is about a job we love and teaching our children of today. I can guarantee people would rally for the teachers. Most of us know and support teachers, but it is no longer a job about caring for education it has become a give me, me, me from the tax payers of Canfield. Let's hear from some teachers about what they are going to do for this community and really the children who support them. Then we can find some solutions once we hear from them and not the BOE or Mr Z.
As for the person who said they sat on the BOE and we should run ourselves. Please, not any of us would ever be able to get on .A couple of factors #1 most of us are smarter #2 in Canfield you have to be in the who's who's club. As in getting a job in the school system it is not what you know it is what teachers you know. The bottom line is we are tired of paying those teachers salaries. They have plenty. Perhaps you should stop up at the Canfield Swim Club this summer and see just how happy those teachers are with their large cooler in tow and very happy faces. Why? Because we are the fools paying for them to sit there all summer long while most of us are working. Making people pay is just there ploy to getting parents mad and therefore in hopes of passing the levy someday. Believe me this is just the start of what everyone will be paying . Soon you will be paying to park in the school lots. That will be the teachers bonus. Because of course we can't short change those teachers. For those who will say this blog is personal. Your right it gets real personal when your trying to get more taxes and taking from my pocket. As far as the rant and rave person goes I think most of us have all stated quit paying these gym coaches and teachers the salaries they make . That would be a solution .
How poor can the teachers of Canfield be when they no longer support our community baseball, and have their kids on travel baseball teams that cost thousands of dollars. That would be gas, food, and lodging. Yes, they now are to good for community basball. Well I guess if you are making in the 70's that is a possibility. Right Mr. Mayor. How dare these teachers sit back and ever think we will ever support their expensive habits. I not only blame Mr. Z I also blame the arrogance of our teachers in this community. What ever happened to the saying that the teachers are trying to make ends meat. They must have found the steak and everyone else is eating hamburgers. Many of us have sat back for many years and were never able to speak because the truth is our children would have suffered in the schools or families would be classified as troublemakers. Well actions speak louder than words. Not to mention all of the teachers getting teacher jobs for all their friends. Yes, to a lot of us this may be personal, but you know what now I can sleep better, and let me just end with no gym coach in the middle school should be making in the 70's. That is outrageous.
Public-private debate flares again
