Court upholds ruling against home for troubled teens

This is very unfortunate for the kids at Redemption House who are truly being helped by being part of a loving family there. The boys are receiving an unconditional type of love that many have not experienced in their birth "families". How anyone can judge Redemption House not to be a real family is beyond me! Those boys are cared for by a wonderful group of very loving people that are there because they want to make a positive difference in the lives of others. It is anything but "institutional". The real issue here is the shameful prejudice & ignorance that a few Ellsworth residents possess. Most of the people there are kind-hearted folks who want these boys to be given an opportunity in life. But because of the bias of a select few, these boys may be thrown out of their home. What a unjust shame! Hopefully, the Ohio Supreme Court will finally get this right & judge this case in the kids' favor.

Group-home owner files zoning appeal

It's unfortunate that the people of Ellsworth continue to ignorantly oppose Redemption House & its owner rather than supporting this wonderful cause. MinisterD hit the nail on the head in his above comments. Group homes are NOT for the types of kids that these residents seem to fear so badly. These are kids that often, due to no fault of their own but because of their parents' mistakes or simply due to their age, are put into placement. They literally have nowhere to go & many times even feel like it's their own fault. This sad belief that they are the problem oftentimes causes them to feel that nobody wants them. How very tragic that is! So along comes some folks who want to lend a helping hand to these kids & the community hides behind some discriminatory zoning laws to try & keep them out. If it wasn't such a sad situation, it would actually be comical how these neighbors claim that they don't oppose the group home's objectives, but instead cite the zoning issues & a sepitc system issue as their "real" concerns. Give me a break. I will keep Redemption House in my prayers & hope that they find a judge who will put politics aside & rule in their favor.
